Christian Life is...

I have this tendency to summarize. It’s how I am organized – a characteristic in me that I observe and that I feel no need to change. Maybe it’s an attribute parceled out to teachers of which I count myself among. Maybe it’s how my brain learns.

So when given the opportunity at my church Vineyard Church Albuquerque to lead a life group, I chose this summary.

The idea behind this life group is that we would gather together, the 1sr and the 3rd Saturdays in Placitas (where I live with my wife) and collectively finish this statement. Of course Christian life can be many things but my interest would be the organic (if I could say spiritual) direction this would take.

We would hash this statement out over several sessions. It could take a year to do it justice. It could form the basis for a book that I could write (not my original intention though). The general goal though is to always please the Lord and encourage the church, or as I like to put it another way, generate a little spiritual productivity.

The underlying emphasis of the life group would be define the sweet spot of Christian living. We get ample declarations of the challenges, and failures, and difficulties. We have familiarity with life on the edges skirting the boundaries of what’s acceptable. This group will offer first hand testimony to what’s possible, attainable, to what the center of Christianity can look like and feel like and taste like – and to encourage each other not to go there but to let the Spirit take you there.

Sound fun?
