Think Doable

Whatever the Bible tells us to do, by definition becomes doable. The Lord lacks pretense as should we. If that is true (and it is) then rule free living is not purely conceptual. There must be a path.

The devoted soul, loaded up with energy, but lacking concepts from which to build, seeks out something to do. Maybe fast? Maybe suffer. Maybe pickup trash? We can start here, but we know this is unsustainable and frustrating and often painful. It’s meant to be. A reflection of our humanity, our current state.

Christianity proposes another way, through Jesus into the Spirit – the special sauce.

The Bible tells us that Jesus will provide this special sauce, this Holy Spirit to empower us, energize us and make rule free living possible – doable. We could say the Holy Spirit is the reality behind the concept.

The Holy Spirit emerges as the true engine behind our transformation. We didn’t only see the light and change our mind – the Holy Spirit entered our lives, adding something that wasn’t there before.

The net effect – new perspective yes, but we could say new muscles, reinforced will and determination – to please God. The Bible puts it this way…

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

Notice the last sentence – “Against such things there is no law.” Operating by intent. Feeling our way. Not by rules but by His leanings. Is that safe or chaos? Well look at the list again.
